TUSA Privacy Policy
The Tonka United Soccer Association website has the potential to reduce time requirements for some administrative activities and provide better communication for our coaches, players and parents. While making more information available through the site has many benefits, it is also necessary to consider the privacy of the information and potential liability of presenting that information in this public setting.
Information included on the TUSA website will abide by the following policies:
- Articles: When a minor's name or picture is included in an article to be posted on the website or included in a newsletter, the person that submitted the article must obtain the approval of the minor's parent or legal guardian for including that information on the web site. No written documentation of that approval is required. When requested, TUSA will publish less detailed information in the version of the newsletter that appears on the website than the version that is printed. A player's identification will only include their first name.
This requirement does not apply to pictures of group activities for which more than an individual or single team is featured in the picture (i.e. a picture of many fields at a Tonka Blast Tournament or a group at registration).
- Team Rosters: Team rosters may be included on the site to inform the players of their team designation. The player information will only include the first initial and last name of players. While the rosters appear on the site there will be no other lists of player contact information, player pictures, or team game locations. This exclusion does not include team articles or newsletter articles. Additional player information may only be included on the site or linked to from the site if permission has been granted by the players' parents or legal guardians or the information is only accessible using individual passwords to the information.
- Coaches: If contact information is included on the site for a team coach or other team contact person, that person must be notified that their contact information will be included on the site prior to the appearance of any information on the site. If the person specifies, their contact information will not be included on the site. The person may also specify that the information be modified. It is not necessary to notify the person if only their first and last name is included on the site or if access to the information is restricted through the use of individual passwords.
- Game Schedules: Game, practice,and clinic schedule information (including location, time, and team identification) may appear on the site without the prior approval of any of the participants. This information may not appear at the same time as team rosters.
This policy was approved by the TUSA Board of Directors on February 26, 2002.
